NCTT
actively promotes instruction in schools and colleges
that helps to develop students' thinking skills, intellectual
habits of mind, and sensitivity to the need for good
thinking on the job, in professional work, and in the
course of our everyday lives. This is accomplished by
an active program in which we work with and provide
resources for educators at all levels using well-researched
techniques for staff-development. NCTT conducts such
programs year round.
One important message that NCTT-trained educators bring
to their students is that they can become quality thinkers
no matter what their social, ethnic, or economic backgrounds
are. Hence, NCTT works at every level of the educational
spectrum.
During the academic year, NCTT offers open workshops
and courses in various parts of the United States and
abroad for K-12 educators and college faculty. It also
offers contracted, custom-designed, on-site staff development
programs for specific schools and colleges. These staff-development
programs are usually extended programs involving a combination
of group workshops and on-site, one-to-one coaching
for implementation of the idea presented at the workshops.
When such programs are offered abroad NCTT usually teams
up with local agencies to plan, develop, advertise,
and administer them.
NCTT also offers an international Summer
Institute of courses on teaching and assessing thinking
during the month of July at various sites around the
USA. Graduate credits are available for these courses.
This Institute ranges in length from one to three weeks
and is designed for both a local and residential audience
from around the world. From time to time, and in conjunction
with local educational agencies, NCTT offers its summer
institute in other countries and at other times.

The Director of NCTT, Dr. Robert Swartz, and the NCTT
staff are available to help to custom design such programs
in both the USA and abroad.
